Measuring the Smoke Ventilation Window

  1. Remove the window cover trims from both the inside and outside to expose the wall structure and allow for more accurate measurement of the opening for a properly fitting window (figure 2). The new window should, in normal cases where there are no additional steps or offsets in the wall structure, be approximately 30–60 mm smaller than the window opening.
  1. Ensure that the smoke ventilation window sash can open freely and that there are no obstructions on the outside. The sash opens outward up to a maximum of 750 mm from the wall, depending on the window size (figure 3).

  1. Also consider the space required for the window flashing, with a minimum slope of 15 degrees (figure 1).
  2. Select a suitable frame depth of 120–210 mm. Note: The sash of the smoke ventilation window always extends 38 mm beyond the frame depth (to the outside). This should not be included in the frame depth (figure 1).
  3. Specify frame dimensions as width × height in mm.
  4. A CE-marked smoke ventilation window is always bottom-hung.
  5. Specify the colour for both interior and exterior sides.
  6. Installation holes are not included as standard but can be provided upon request (standard hole or Adjufix hole + sleeve).
